Longitudinal Glulam Decks
Beneficial for short span bridges when a shallow-depth superstructure is required. Continuous glulam panels span longitudinally between supports, forming both the superstructure and the deck. Stiffeners run transversely under the deck to decrease differential deflection. Deck thicknesses range from 8.5 to 16 inches for spans between 10 to 30 feet.

Stress-Laminated Glulam Decks
Beneficial for long span bridges when a shallow-depth superstructure is required. Individual glulam stringers span longitudinally between supports with post-tensioned transverse stressing rods, forming both the superstructure and the deck. When the deck is tensioned together with high-strength steel bars the deck performs as one composite deck. Deck thicknesses range from 12 to 22 inches for spans between 20 to 50 feet.

Glulam Stringers
Beneficial for long span bridges. Individual glulam stringers span longitudinally between supports with transverse glulam deck panels placed on top of the stringers (see Transverse Glulam Decks for more information). Stringer depths range from 27.5 to 63 inches for spans between 24 to 80 feet.

Beneficial for long span timber, steel, or concrete stringer bridges. Continuous glulam panels oriented across supporting stringers, forming the deck. Deck thicknesses range from 5 to 8.5 inches for stringers spans between 3 to 8.5 feet.
